The Student Engagement Roster (SER) communicates valuable feedback to students and academic support staff about attendance, participation, and other insights for strengthening student academic performance.
· SER mobilizes support staff with critical information for timely intervention (within the first third of a course, by Week 6 in a regular semester course) in areas pertaining to student success.
· The attendance portion of SER is critical for registrar and financial aid audits to ensure compliance with federal and IU polices. Students who have not attended or have stopped attending should be listed on the Administrative Withdrawal Roster.
In April 2024, Indianapolis Faculty Council agreed to make SER reporting in gateway classes mandatory across IU Indianapolis and its branch campuses, which includes IU Columbus. IU Columbus will distinguish all 100 and 200 level courses and all general education courses as gateway courses, in keeping with the definition of a gateway course from IU Indianapolis.
