Retention of student records
Administrative staff, instructors, and advisors often ask "how long should I keep this file?" The answer depends upon the file subject matter and who is responsible for maintaining files of that nature. Several years ago, a schedule of disposition was established by the IU Indianapollis Office of the Registrar and the IU Indianapolis Special Collections and Archives office. They based their decisions on suggestions from AACRAO (the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers).
