The Groups Scholars Program was created as a way to increase college attendance among first-generation students at Indiana University Columbus. The program provides academic, financial, and social support to help students attain a bachelor's degree at Indiana University Columbus.

The community at IU Columbus is uniquely equipped to understand and support the needs of first-generation students.
· Must be a resident of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Shelby, or Ripley County
· Must qualify as a first-year first-generation student
· Must have graduated high school with a 3.0 GPA or higher
Students must be recommended to the program by a high school teacher, guidance counsellor, or academic coach who can attest to their academic performance and leadership skills.
Application Deadline is May 31, 2025
Step 1: Complete the IU Application. Please contact our admissions office with any questions.
Step 2: Once you have submitted your IU Application, please complete the IU Columbus Groups Scholars Application.
Step 3: A high school teacher, counsellor, or academic coach completes the attestation form.
Step 4: Students will be contacted after all materials have been reviewed.
