The Groups Scholars Program was created as a way to increase college attendance among first-generation, underrepresented students at Indiana University Columbus. The program provides academic, financial, and social support to help students attain a bachelor's degree at Indiana University Columbus.

· Must be a resident of Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Shelby, or Ripley County
· Must qualify as a first-year first-generation student
· Must have graduated high school with a 3.0 GPA or higher
To access the application for the Groups Scholars Program, students must be recommended to the program by a “recommender” from a high school or a community agency. A recommendation is the only way students can gain admittance to the program.

Step 1: Complete the IU Application. Please contact our admissions office with any questions.
Step 2: Contact a Recommender. A recommendation is the only way students can gain admittance to the program.
Step 3: Once your Recommender has completed their recommendation form, you will receive an email from our admissions office to complete the Groups Scholar application.
