Student academic attire
Commencement Celebration is fun, but a formal event. We expect our graduates to dress accordingly. For your safety, please also wear appropriate shoes. Flip-flops, clogs, and extremely high heeled shoes are discouraged.
Rent your cap and gown
Ordering will be available from Herff Jones beginning in early February. Note that the deadline to order will be in early April to allow time for you to receive your cap and gown before the ceremony.
All rented apparel will be shipped directly to your home.
After the event, you will return your used gown and your hood (if you rented one) directly to Herff Jones. Your cap, tassel, and stole are yours to keep.

How do I get my honor cord?
Students who are graduating with Distinction, High Distinction, and Highest Distinction are entitled to wear fourragères. The fourragères are provided by the university as a gift to the student.
Students graduating with honors are awarded honor cords by their respective divisions. IU Columbus officials will notify those students when the cords are available.
