Professional Summary

My primary interest in business is on integration: how all the parts of a business fit together to create a successful enterprise with a focus on the integration of strategy, finance, marketing, and production. I also specialize in the area of personal finance, including creating and maintaining healthy finances and accumulating wealth.

Grants

  • INTG I300 Integrator Course Development Grant; $2,500; summer 2003, Judy Spector and I split a $5,000 grant for developing I300.
  • C4, Indiana Department of Education; $750; summer 2004, I collaborated with Becky Green, Head of the Business Department, Columbus East High School, Columbus, Indiana to develop teaching scenarios between the high school and the university.
  • Lecturer’s Development Grant, IUPUI; $5,000; summer 2007, I received a grant from IUPUI to develop the teaching method of advanced business simulations.
  • Jump Start Development Grant, IUPUI and IUPUC; $6,000; summer 2008, I was a member of the Jump Start cohort for 2008 at the IUPUI Center for Teaching and Learning. My project was developing a hybrid online X100 Introduction to Business course that I delivered in the fall 2008 semester. IUPUI received 40 applications from the faculty. My application was one of 9 applications that were accepted into the Jump Start program. Beginning with the spring 2009 semester, all of the X100 Introduction to Business sections at IUPUC have used the hybrid online format.
  • Common Theme Project grant, IUPUI; $500; academic year 2009-10; this grant helps to support my participation in the IUPUI Common Theme Project.

Publications

  • How a Business Works–What Every Businessperson, Citizen, Consumer, and Employee Needs to Know About Business, Author House (2008), is my first published book. The book is used as the textbook for X100 Introduction to Business. Over 1,000 students have used the book as the course textbook for X100. Book reviews can be seen at amazon.com.

I serve as a pro bono personal finance adviser and small business consultant for IU Columbus students, faculty, and staff.

  • William C. Haeberle Company, LLC; 8/02 to present; Owner; I provide consulting services in the areas of owner-managed businesses and business startups, and personal finance for individuals. 
  • Carlton West Oil Company, LLC; 2/15 to present; President and Managing Member; drilling and production of crude oil on oil leases in the Illinois basin.
  • H2X Excavating LLC; 8/16 to present; Chief Financial Officer; partners with my son Harrison; the company focuses on excavation, excavation flat work, concrete work, hardscapes construction, and demolition.
