Staff employees (50% FTE or greater) receive the following ten paid holidays a year. Each holiday is considered to be eight hours for 100% FTE Staff. Holiday hours are prorated by FTE for Staff employees with less than 100% FTE.
If a holiday falls on a Saturday, it is observed on the Friday immediately preceding the holiday. If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it is observed on the Monday immediately following the holiday.
*The Campus Holiday is either a “floating” holiday or a day designated by the president of the university or the chancellor of the campus. On campuses that treat the holiday as a floating holiday, Campus Holiday is available to use on or after March 1.
If you are a faculty or exempt professional staff member at IU Columbus, you are paid monthly on the last working day of the month with the exception of December, when checks are paid on the first working day in January.
If you are a new employee whose hire date occurs in the first half of the month, you will receive your first paycheck on the last working day of the month of hire. If you are hired after the middle of the month and if payroll has already closed for the current month, you will receive your first paycheck on the last working day of the following month.
Clerical, technical, service maintenance, hourly, and non-exempt professional staff are paid biweekly. Your first paycheck is usually received within three to four weeks from the start of employment.

Preventive care includes routine well exams, screenings, and immunizations intended to prevent or avoid illness or other health problems. People who see their doctor regularly and have routine screenings are more likely to receive an early diagnosis if they develop a medical condition, and this contributes to better outcomes and a longer lifespan. Routine screenings also allow physicians to compare test results over time, increasing the chances that a potential problem can be prevented by interventions like medications or lifestyle changes.
All IU medical planscover in-network preventive care at 100%, meaning you can receive these and many other services through your primary care provider with no out-of-pocket costs:
Wellness exams and routine immunizations
Labs for cholesterol, TB, fasting blood sugar and A1C, and STIs
Screening tests such as mammograms, bone density testing, PSA, colonoscopies, and cancer screenings
Women’s health services including oral contraceptives, IUDs, hormone implants, injections, pap smears, and sterilization
Physical activity throughout your day is critical to the health not only of your body, but your mind and spirit as well. Grab a friend and take a walk or class at a local fitness center.

The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
To help you track your progress toward qualifying for PSLF, we recommend that you submit the PSLF form annually or when you change employers. It will make it much easier once you are ready to apply for forgiveness after 10 years of employment in public service!
Submitting the form annually will let us track and verify how many qualifying payments you make while working full-time for a qualifying employer, among other PSLF eligibility requirements.
If you do not submit the PSLF form with your employment certification annually, then at the time you apply for forgiveness, you will be required to submit employment certification for each employer you worked for while making the required 120 qualifying monthly payments.
How do I complete the employer section of the PSLF process?
FedLoan Servicing recommends that you initiate your PSLF application at studentaid.gov.
Complete page 1 of the application WITHOUT including your Social Security Number. For security purposes, please include your University ID instead to properly identify you in the system. Payroll will update that field to reflect your Social Security Number.
Send the form to payroll@iupui.edu and be sure to include your full legal name and University ID, and note that your home campus is IU Columbus.
Since this document contains critical information, upon completion you will receive an email notification from Slashtmp IU including a password protected link to retrieve the completed form. Another email will follow including the password required to obtain the secure document.
Please Note: Please allow five working days for IU Indianapolis Payroll to complete processing.
What do I do once IU Indianapolis Payroll returns the completed form?
Once the employer portion of the PSLF form is completed and returned (Above Steps 1-4), you can send it to FedLoan Servicing* or via mail or fax as listed below.
You may mail the form to this address:
U.S. Department of Education FedLoan Servicing P.O. Box 69184 Harrisburg, PA 17106-9184
*FedLoan Servicing, one of the federal loan servicers, administers the PSLF Program on our behalf.
