Being a Tree Campus is a bright opportunity for IU Columbus to contribute to the sustainability of planet Earth. In order to be designated a Tree Campus, the Arbor Day Foundation puts forth a set of guidelines each year for which one must meet those qualifications. IU Columbus started participation in 2019 and earned recognition as a 2019 Tree Campus USA. The Arbor Day Foundation program, honored us for promoting healthy trees and engaging students and staff in the spirit of conservation. To obtain this distinction, IU Columbus met the five core standards for effective campus forest management: a tree advisory committee, a campus tree-care plan, dedicated annual expenditures for our campus tree program, and an Arbor Day observance and student service-learning project.
