Admission Requirements
The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) degree program at IU Columbus is designed to meet the needs of adult learners with significant work and live experience and previously earned college and/or military credits.
More than 42 percent of IU Columbus students are adults 25 years of age or older. Many are married with children and full-time jobs. If this describes you, you'll feel right at home in our general studies program!
Getting Started
To get started, you must apply for admission to IU Columbus as an adult learner, returning student, veteran, or other type of student—choose the description that best describes you. Information about the application and admission process is available from the Office of Recruitment & Admissions.
In general, you must:
- Be at least 21 years of age or older
- Have a 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA on current or previous coursework
If you are a former student who has been academically dismissed from IU Columbus or any other Indiana University campus and want to pursue a BGS degree, you must apply for reinstatement to the university. If you have questions about the reinstatement policy, you may contact the Office of Registrar Services at coregr@iu.edu.
If you have questions about whether the BGS program is right for you, please contact Amy Kleinert, advisor for the general studies program. Amy can advise you about next steps based on your prior academic experience and the admission requirements.
