Admission Requirements

How to apply for the TEP

When you are nearly finished with your general education requirements, you will apply for admission to the IU Columbus Teacher Education Program (TEP) in order to begin your professional education and training.

The TEP is a cohort-based experience, so you progress through the program with a group of your peers, forming tight-knit bonds that will last throughout your career.

To be admitted, you must meet basic eligibility criteria and complete these step-by-step instructions. Depending on when you are admitted, you will begin your professional education courses during the fall or spring semester.

Program Admission Policy Change
Effective Date: January 20, 2021

Beginning with the fall 2021 admission cycle, the Division of Education at IU Columbus will no longer require candidates for admission to obtain threshold scores on the ACT, SAT, or Praxis CORE for admission to the IU Columbus Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree program. This change is being made in response to updates made to the teacher education program accreditation standards by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).

Candidates for admission to the fall 2021 cohort (and beyond) of the IU Columbus elementary education degree program will need to obtain and maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, and complete or be enrolled in the courses required for admission to the program.
