Teaching middle, junior high, and high school students is one of the most challenging—and rewarding—professional experiences you can have.
After graduation with an Indiana University Bachelor of Science (BS) in Secondary Education, you will be prepared to help adolescents and young adults find their way, discover their strengths and passions, and prepare for adulthood and a productive work life.
You can complete a portion of an IU bachelor’s degree in secondary education at IU Columbus, then you will transfer to Indianapolis, Bloomington, or another IU campus to complete the required courses not currently offered in Columbus.
Already have a bachelor's degree in a secondary teaching area? Take your life and work experiences and Transition to Teaching with IU Columbus. You can complete our secondary Transition to Teaching (T2T) program (offered through partnership with Indiana University Kokomo).
The Division of Education at IU Columbus and the School of Education at IU Kokomo offer IU Kokomo’s 18 credit-hour Secondary Transition to Teaching (T2T) program in partnership with one another.

H520 – Education and Social Issues, 3 credit hours (FACE-TO-FACE ON THE IU COLUMBUS CAMPUS)
P507 – Assessment in Schools, 3 credit hours (ENTIRELY ONLINE)
Summer Courses
X501 - Critical Reading in the Content Areas, 3 credit hours (ENTIRELY ONLINE)
In addition, students are required to complete a student teaching placement (M550) for 14 weeks.
