Before you apply to the Indiana University School of Medicine or another medical school, you must take courses that fulfill the admission requirements. As a student in the Division of Science, you will gain excellent undergraduate preparation and begin your way toward a successful career.
Medical schools are looking for well–rounded students with broad academic interests. There is no correct or best major. You should choose your major based on your academic interests while incorporating the pre-med pre-requisites into your degree requirements. Since medical schools are very competitive, your goal is to get the best grades possible in whatever major you choose.
The following courses meet the basic medical school admissions requirements and prepare you for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). It is important you check with each medical school you are applying to for specific requirements.
As a pre-med student in the Division of Science at IU Columbus, you'll work closely with your academic advisor to select and register for classes that apply toward your degree program. Your advisor will help you monitor your progress to ensure you are on the right track.
